neotares was commissioned to oversee the redesign of Bankhaus Metzler's Hamburg branch, from planning to move-in. The mandate covered all stages, from occupancy planning, design concept, and furnishing to project management during the interior construction. The scope of services was supplemented by relocation management and user representation during the return of the previous rental space. After the project began in April 2024, the location was ready for occupancy in February 2025.
As the previous premises no longer met the bank's quality standards, a new location was sought – a modern, centrally located, and prestigious space that would also offer room for future growth. The choice fell on an existing property that, after specific structural modifications, met both the technical and design requirements.
For the design concept, neotares deliberately created an exciting dialogue between modernity and tradition and combined this with an individual color concept. The basis for this was the use of numerous antique pieces of furniture, which were brought into the present day with new colors and fabrics and contrasted with modern elements and an innovative lighting concept. Lovingly designed details such as a curated gallery wall and coordinated decorative elements lend the rooms personality and expressiveness.
In addition to the classic planning and management tasks, neotares also took on the inventory of the antiques and organized their transport and professional refurbishment. Chairs were reupholstered, lampshades were custom-made, and historic furniture was carefully modernized.
The interplay of art, antiques, and modern furniture has created a working environment that spatially translates the bank's identity. The result is a high-quality, distinctive place that preserves the tradition of the institution while looking to the future.
