The management consulting firm neotares, which specializes in designing work environments, has created a new corporate headquarters in Hamburg for the international company Sysmex. Spanning more than 12,000 square meters, the result is a modern work environment that brings together three previously separate companies under one roof for the first time. Over a period of more than four years, neotares managed a comprehensive project encompassing workplace consulting and change management, planning and project management, and media technology.

In addition to analyzing requirements and developing new work and space utilization concepts, neotares took charge of the customized implementation of a holistic interior architecture and design concept. This concept meets the demands of an increasingly hybrid work environment, strengthens the connection between the spatial concept and corporate culture, and integrates company-specific design elements by combining Japanese design elements with the German local context.

Throughout the entire project duration, neotares took the lead in managing all user consultations as well as the entire procurement process. At the same time, the team supported employees through the change process. In addition, the consulting firm developed a modern, high-performance media technology solution that enables seamless cross-location collaboration. In total, more than 80 rooms were equipped with state-of-the-art conference and collaboration technology.

Spanning six floors, the project team developed a total of 270 workstations for approximately 780 employees. The spaces combine office, training, and laboratory areas with showrooms, storage areas, communication zones, and a central cafeteria on the ground floor. The close integration of these functions promotes short distances and interdisciplinary exchange.

“With this project, we have succeeded in creating a work environment that combines functionality and identity,” says Kathrin Guder, project manager at neotares. “The close integration of strategy, design, and implementation was a key factor in our success.”

“Our goal was to bring our companies together at a single location and create a modern environment for collaboration,” explains Peter Winckler, project coordinator at Sysmex Europe. “The intensive and highly detailed planning paid off in full during implementation. We were particularly impressed by the high level of flexibility shown by everyone involved, which contributed significantly to the project’s success.”
